Apologies to anyone who has noticed the recent silence on this blog. The powers-that-be here like to have anything that is published checked over by a long-serving colleague. It's a perfectly sensible policy, considering the number of people SIL have coming and going from all over the world and the potential for misunderstandings between us, our foreign colleagues, our local colleagues and various national and international agencies if someone who appears to be a “Spokesman of SIL” goes off half-cocked when they really don't know what they are talking about. Don't think of it as censorship – more generous editorial enhancement!
This was going well for us till our checker had to return to his native land for a while. We value his input, welcome our new checker and are sure she will do as good a job.
So, while this blog has been silent we wrote student reports for the first quarter of the year, went to the beach and enjoyed Cameroon beating Togo 3-0 in a World Cup qualifier. Check back in the next few days for more info and photos!
